Many hispanics continue to identify with their home countries. There is also the third generation effect - naturalized immigrants of the third generation tend to have an "ethnic awakening", getting in touch with their roots.

Three quarters of my crew are hispanic, and Kristel works with a kitchen crew of Mexicans and Guatamalans, some of dubious legal immigrant status, let us say. All of my guys are Mexican US citizens of the third or fourth generation, and a Puerto Rican. They are all nearly as exciteable about any illegal immigrant issues as Kristel's "undocumented" coworkers.

And man, don't get em started around World Cup soccer time. ;)
