That's just my guess as to why we gained so many small retail stores around the time WalMart moved in. I can't think of any other reason.

Something odd. We had one of the first malls open around '70. Did a lot of business. Another mall opened 5 miles away in '82 and did a lot of business. Today the old mall has expanded and is packed while the newer mall is 80% empty. The newer mall is easier to get into and has more parking but for some reason people quit going there.
