I like the naked put sale as an alternative to a limit buy where you are paid for your willingness to buy, even though your limit may not be reached. I usually go out further in time to collect even more time premium. One reason I like this strategy is that it imposes a certain discipline if the flesh tends to be weak on the buy trigger in a falling market.

Currently I am short:
SEPRACOR Jan 2004 15 PUT
LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORP JAN (2006) 30 PUT,
XILINX, INC JAN (2005) 25 PUT
XILINX, INC JAN (2006) 30 PUT

OT *** Alastair

No, I've never sold naked puts. Something to think about. I suppose if I sell one contract of $20 puts, I'll have to keep $2,000 cash in my account?
