For the 1st time in history the abused workers can be heard while by using same method become better organized to use their vote & purchasing power to reverse the trend. The problem with your rhetoric, Ann, is that it doesn't jibe with reality. What you think is happening is not happening. There is no "Workers of the World, Unite!" going on.

I'm sorry Ann. Don't think you will ever understand if you think this way. The worker (you, me, John/Jane Doe) have every right to work for someone else, OR work for ourselves to provide our living. Period. If the worker doesn't like where they are, they can change jobs here in the US. Not so, in some other countries. Of course, they can always join a Union. My parents had to. BUT before you do, I'd suggest you look up EXACTLY what benefits you will receive, including the amount of pension, from your HIGH monthly dues. My parents both had to belong, and Dad eventually received (after age 69 retirement ) $50 a month, and Mom got $15, both after MANY years of belonging. Dad was commission, so no higher salary, and Mom was in retail...you know those salaries. Big Whoop! They would have been better off to work in a non-union company, and saved the amount of their dues each month for retirement.
