Hi Noel de Leon; Re the antisemitism of the Moslems. Here's an interesting link:

This quote(and others) clearly shows that the attitude of the Muslims was egalitarian in that their contempt was for anyone outside of Islam, not Jews alone as both you and Nadine try to show.

Noel, just because the Muslims had contempt for all infidels does not mean they were egalitarian. Jews and Christians could live as dhimmis, second-class citizens. Other infidels, such as Hindus, were considered idolaters and had to convert or die. That is what shari'a says.

Now, within the bounds of shari'a there is lots of variation. I don't know how Muslim communities traditionally treated their Christian minorities but lately it's been far from great. It's clear from what little reports filter out of Egypt that the Christian Copts, who may make up as much as 20% of the population, are treated somewhat like Negroes in the Old South. It's illegal to build a new church in Egypt, I understand.

Traditionally, Egyptians treated Jews with a good deal of contempt and it got much worse in the twentieth century as the influence of the Egyptian Nazi party spread (Nasser and Sadat were both members, btw). More than half of all Israelis are descended from Jews from the Arab lands, why don't you look for their stories. Now that Arab anti-Semitism has been thoroughly cross-fertilized with European anti-Semitism, the hatred of Jews is more and more virulent, though you will see plenty of venom aimed at the "Crusaders" as well as the Jews.

Now, if you want to defend Arab anti-Semitism on the grounds that they treat Christians awfully too, you can. In my opinion, it's like defending Jim Crow because the white man was treating the Negroes better than the Sioux.

Hmm.. I don't believe I ever said that Jews were solely despised by the Islamists. You merely asked for evidence that Islam had perpetrated hatred of Jews for hundreds of years..

I clearly proved that point.

And certainly the Catholic church bears its share of guilt for formenting hatred of Jews.. Racist myths such as "blood libel" might have originated with the Catholics, they have been perpetuated to this day by the Muslims.

The difference is that the Islamists are unrepentant about their racist hatred, while you'd be hard pressed to find a Catholic church leader make similar racist statements in public..

Thank you for the reference and for showing all of us that Islam has been at odds with all non-Islamic religions.

Is that supposed to make us all feel safer and less concerned about the Islamists?

What is going on now is quite another story, best understood by looking at the Muslim world as being at war(with every non-Muslim) and, therefore, using propaganda to control its masses.

No.. Militant Islam is at war. The rest of the Muslim world is still trying to figure out what side to take, if any..

If the Muslim world were at war, we'd see more than just terrorism.
