all you've shown is an anecdote. it is meaningless beyond its own boundaries. attempts to extrapolate the significance of anecdotes to global arguments (which are not even in the same rubric as the anecdotes) are known as data mining. data mining is a faulty approach to debate.

you should really learn about peak oil so you will not be surprised in 30 years when it turns out that China is not the "next Japan".

I'll give that increased efficiency adds to productivity, as does offshore outsourcing, and are producing corporate profits. But they both lead to less jobs here in the good 'ol USA. Your steelmill may have twenty highly paid contol minders and managers, but they displaced 200 well paid steelworkers. When the mill owner moves to Malaysia to reduce the labor costs of even those 20, they'll be sucking air too! I guess we'll all have to become investors!
