We can't expect the lame and limping corporate US media to report the news. They get the story, if ever, after it has become history, not when it's news.

This story is one of the cruxes of the Iraq situation and the Iraqis of course are calling it what it is. No matter what the "coalition" does to try to install a hand picked government in Iraq, sooner or later the Islamic leaders like Sistani and Sadr are going to call the shots. This is going to be huge defeat and a huge embarrassment to the Bushies.

Sistani is playing this very smooth right now. If the Bushies didn't have their heads up their butts, they would realize that the Islamic clergy can call a jihad and turn Iraq into a killing zone for Americans any time they want to. Sadr has amassed a private army for just such a purpose. The Baathists have shown how possible it is to kill Americans and other foreigners. The cards are on the table for all but the very very blind to see.
