Kastel,

You've come up with a great example of the lack of common sense among the general public today. But how did people become so stupid? I feel certain we've always been that boneheaded a species.

Certainly your efforts to educate this foolish and incompetent mother are valued and respected by me.

Re: Are people too weak that they can't boycott NIKE ? are there not alternatives ? and cheaper ones to boot ?

As you might be aware, Nike is headquartered just outside Portland, OR in a moated and gated compound that reminds many of the armed fortifications of medieval lords. Phil Knight is the ultimate in lording it over the common man and one of his schticks is to donate millions to the University of Oregon. When the students there recently had the audacity to challenge Nike's aggressively anti-labor practices in its third world sweat shops, Knight revenged himself on the school by withdrawing a promised $30 Million in donations for the U's sports programs.

Many of us are aware of how abusive Nike is. In fact, the original boycott against Nike was organized sometime back in 1999. Within one year of the start of this "whisper" campaign, largely organized via the Internet, Nike sales had plummeted by 34% in North America. Hopefully, the Internet will do the same thing for George Bush's prospect for being selected in 2004:
