Recent information I saw says Intel removed Symmetric multiprocessing support from latter versions of Pentium IIIs and Pentium IVs CPUs. Hence if you want to use a recent Intel CPU in a dual CPU configuration you have to buy Xeon CPUs and a Xeon compatibility motherboard. If you use AMD Athlon's CPU's in a dual CPU configuration you will pay almost as much for a Athlon CPU certified for dual operation as you do for a Xeon CPU or risk using Athlon CPUs that are not certified for dual operation. Furthermore AMD's dual capable 760MPX chipset does not support USB 2.0, Serial ATA, PC2700 memory and PC3200 memory.
