It appears that they have already been sold off. But this is not so strange. I believe that there are a lot of people in Taiwan that have family on the mainland. And some even own property and businesses in both lands.

It might not be such a bad thing if Taiwan and China re-united. But it needs to be done with China recognizing that Taiwan is a special zone, much like Hong Kong. And at the same time the democratization of China must continue to move forward.

So it would seem that there will be an inevitable intersection between China and Taiwan. Let us hope it will be a peaceful and equitable reunion.
