My family has reps on both sides, both doctors and lawyers. We need both, the best incremental step is California's "gold standard" of limiting pain-and-suffering awards to $250k instead of zillions. The next is the Swiss single-payer private system. When excessive legal, insurance and pharma costs are removed, the overall costs go down, and lawsuits become much cheaper, thereby further reducing insurance premiums in a virtuous cycle.
