Agreed, Jay.
I wonder whether this will be a buying opportunity for oil, NG, precious metals. I expect that this could drive gold below $400. If it is good for the economy, however, it will mean more consumption and in the long run increasing demand for base metals, energy etc. We could take a big temporary hit on the values of our holdings, certainly on Monday, but it will be interesting to see how much follow through there will be later in the week. Maybe time to catch the Christmas rally going through New Years.

Jay, what if the market disregards Saddam arrest? The inherent weaknesses in the world economic system were not due to Saddam. Why arresting Saddam would change that previous status quo?

It is just a psychological effect.

As Iraq is concerned, things will continue the same way.
