I think politically, it is quite interesting that the dictator is alive. It would seem to me that there is much to fear of what he will say if he is tried in a public manner -- and I think that the iraqis and the world will demand a public trial.

It doesn't matter what the Iraqis or the world wants. Whatever the Bushies decide upon for a tribunal is what will happen. And you better believe that a secrecy-mad administration like the one in Washington will be loathe to let Saddam gain a stage as Milosevic has in the Hague. This time you can expect a secret military tribunal with only the censored and sanitized portions of the proceedings to made publicly available.

I believe that the Guantanemo military tribunals will be then model. And they are designed to keep the American public completely in the dark.

I am glad they took him alive too. The future investigations
and trials will be quite interesting. I hope they manage
to keep him alive, and that there is no accident ala Jack Ruby...
