Tokyo shares rise on news of Saddam's capture

Tokyo shares were broadly higher in morning trade on Monday, following the capture of Saddam Hussein, the former Iraqi leader.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 average gained 2.7 per cent to 10,441.83, while the broader Topix index was up 1.9 per cent to 1,017.62.
