Dale,

Re: If Bush goes that far, at least we will have a straight up or down vote

With all due respect, how can you possibly say that? Just look at how perfectly willing the American public is to be duped and deluded.

On the environment, we have willing propaganda whores such as the PBS News Hour giving a stage to complete lies/liars:

pbs.org

In the interview, the new EPA head Mike Leavitt is bold-faced lying about mercury control. He touts that the Bush team is setting new standards, taking the lead. He fails to mention that they've just gutted a 3 1/2 year study on the matter.

The truth is in Robert Kennedy's recent interview and article:

Message 19546779

Frankly, the American public doesn't have a damned clue what is going on all around them. Especially w/r/t foreign policy and the imposition of the imperial regime. Most will be for the empire. Because we can win a lot of wars. And winning wars makes Americans feel superior.

Think about this fact. 70% of American adults don't understand forex and have probably never heard the term. So they are completely unaware that the dollar has lost 20-30% of its value against a basket of foreign currencies in the last 24 months. Think about that. Would a European be so naive about the depreciation of their currency? Would the Japanese?

If you want saner, you'll have to move to a cloister, or the far side of moon. <g>
