I couldn't pass a litmus test from either extreme if I wanted to. Ideology is a substitute for thinking for yourself, just like cheerleading and playground insults. Like I said, as long as I get flack from both sides for not being ideologically pure by their standards, I am satisfied. If liberals want to hold significant political power again they better learn how to connect with the 1/3 chunk of independent voters who decide US elections. I am not convinced they are there yet. Without 20% of the 33% independent bloc (i.e. 20% of the total votes cast to add to the reliable pro-Demcoratic 1/3), liberals will spend another four years in the frustrated wilderness.
