Yes, the Chilean wines are generally tannic, but that doesn't bother me too much.

I used to drink the Casillero del Diablo cabernet from Concha y Toro in the late 1980s--superb!--but it disappeared locally and I haven't had it recently, though according to this article, it is now available, good, and very decently priced. I'm going to look for it. I stopped drinking the C y T stuff when it began to mass produce.

PS: The Baron Rotchshild to which the article refers is Los Vascos, which I mentioned earlier. It is one of the best Chilean cabs I've had. At $16, it is nicely priced.
