My point seems to have flown right over your head.

Velo was trying to make some bid deal out of the DOW "only" going up 100 points in the last two months. I pointed out that if you annualized that change, it is 6% which is good compared to money funds. Everyone knows you take more risk to get higher returns.

Also, now the DOW is at 10,129.56 which is now another 100 pts higher. 12% is even better.

<Last time I checked money funds had a guarantee or close to it>

We'll they dont have a guarantee for much, if any over 100k. And if there is any sudden rise in interest rates some money funds are at serious risk because they own junk like FNM bonds for ex.

There are many companies on the exchange whose stock I would rather own in a crash/sudden downturn than GSE backed money markets. At least its not clear to me that money markets are safe or guaranteed.
