I understand that improbable hypotheticals are another standard cheesy high school debate trick, somewhat more reputable than the usual straw man / shifting goalposts variants , but not much.

The only way you can get Saddam's body count up in the 100k's is by including his stupid wars, and his decrepit military was in no position to start another war any time soon. As to the torture thing, I got a reference about another middle east country torturing hundreds of thousands, but the technique was usually referred to as "moderate physical pressure" there.
