Win,

Perhaps you fail to remember all the Patriotic Protests concerning quagmire during the first week of the war. By the second week your ilk were shouting Vietnam (some were shouting this before the war).

If any reference to WW2 will be greeted by the Godwin's law defense of Patriotic Protest perhaps we could reference a new law - The WinSmith law (tm) that is invoked whenever a an argument in favor of armed intervention deteriorates into a sky is falling invocation of 'Vietnam, its Vietnam, oh-my-god its a quagmire just like Vietnam' syndrome.

Sneering aside, this war is as much like WW2 as Vietnam (in that neither comparison is wholly reasonable). However, one Vietnam reference is probably similar - your refusal to look at anything other than a Dean'esque view of the Protest Movement is pretty similar to the rose colored glasses of the Johnson Administrations views on their war.
