One catch, Saddam is not part of Al Qaida and Iraq is still a mess. Yes, we are theoretically safer and capturing Saddam is good news, but beyond the PR and symbolic value of it, actual safety is less certain. After all, the invasion itself took care of Saddam's regime. Capturing one haggard guy in a hole is more of a symbolic step ahead. Hopefully it will help pacify Iraq. If it does that then we're safer, or at least our troops in Iraq are.

Bush is getting a big PR boost out of this and Dean is suffering. The Democrats need to think long and hard about whether they want to send DEan up against Bush. As I've said many times, Kerry-Clark would be a much better ticket because the Dems neede a big chunk of pro-military voters. dean won't get them any.
