'Fiat currencies' (those not backed by anything but the "faith and credit" of their governments) will continue their historical depreciations --- nothing new there.

The only question is: which governments most recklessly destroy their paper....

Do you know that the traditional spread between yields of emerging market bonds, and US treasuries, has narrowed to a new historical low?

And that Moody's has threatened to lower it's rating on US debt?

Chris, I like the resource base of the Aussie economy, but they have a pretty big deficit, too. Remember, the goof in charge of the country is a Bush fan. <G> The Canadian currency looks stronger to me. Also, nearly all the Scandinavian countries. And, the Swissie. The problem is, only the dollar, Yen and Euro are big enough to be the world's reserve currency. I can't imagine a day when you have to have a Kroner to do business in Singapore. <G>
