There are only TWO ways out of the crisis: 1) comprehensive tax reform to eliminate loopholes and 'special tax preference items', and a serious reduction of government spending and size. This is not incompatible with lower tax rates... or even flat tax rates. (There is THAT MUCH money wasted in crony capitalism tax breaks!) 2) continued destruction of the value of the dollar... so that bonds are 'paid off' in depreciated currency --- a kind of 'rolling default'. That way lies Argentina.
