Private employment of prisoners interests me in the larger sense.

The whole subject of all-time-record incarceration.

Building private prisons is making someone very rich already -- no doubt with "ties" to the Bush malAdminstration.

Then, I can just imagine someone like Phil Gramm, who has already had the bright idea for the State of Texas to take out life insurance policies on teachers -- when they die, state gets the money, coming up with a marketing scheme to put the worseless losers behind bars to work as a patriotic gesture <cough>.

Think outsourcing to China and India is cheap?

Just imagine the wealth of skills inside America's prisons. At a buck or two a day, if that.

America's newest resource: prison labor.

Don't we have the most people in prison per capita of any nation? Aren't the vast majority in for some drug offense, even marijuana possession. Some would think a history of drinking and snorting cocaine as a prerequisite for executive office. Those released felons need to get a job somewhere or they'll be back to their former crimes.
