Thanks for the Bird Bombing article. It graphically exhibits the flagrant hypocrisy of this Admin. Thought you might enjoy this tale. Let's see if you were a young college student in Calgary near winter solstice, would you go to a summer vacation in Australia for just a little ...

AN Albury fertility clinic is ofering free two-week trips to Australia for Canadian sperm donors.

Citing "a severe shortage" of Australian donors, the ad in Calgary University's student newspaper The Gauntlet promises an airfare, accommodation and living expenses for those willing to make the journey to New South Wales.
Those who make the trip and pass a series of rigorous medical checks will be required to produce a semen sample every two days during their two-week stay in Albury, where Reproductive Medicine Albury will put them up in a motel.

They will receive $150 spending money each day, with two-thirds of the allowance payable only after the donors have returned to Canada.

So far 15 Canadian men have sent e-mail inquiries.

Fertility clinics can cover a donor's expenses but cash payments for sperm are illegal in Australia

Post by PolymerMom on the FOOL

The article says that New Hampshire Governor Craig Benson announced last week that, in defiance of federal law, New Hampshire will purchase prescription drugs from Canada for Medicaid recipients and prison inmates. The estimated savings: over $1.5 million. On the same day, Boston's Mayor Thomas M. Menino also announced that his city will buy Canadian drugs for city employees. Savings: $1 million per year.

These announcements came one day after President Bush signed the new Medicare bill into law. The draft bill had contained provisions that would allow U.S. Medicare patients to purchase less expensive Canadian drugs. But at some point, those provisions were removed from the bill.

HA!!! Could lobbyists for drug companies have had something to do with this???

Meanwhile, FDA officials continue to maintain that their ban on the purchase of drugs from Canada is solely a SAFETY issue. Gee, they don't think Canadian safety standards are the same superior level as those of the FDA.

REALLY?!?!?!?!?!?

According to a CBS news report last week, the largest U.S. customer of Canadian pharmaceuticals is the U.S. government itself!!! Among others, both the U.S. Department of Defense and the Veterans' Administration are allowed to purchase drugs from Canada or any other country that they see fit.

According to the CBS report, Michael Valentino - a spokesman for the
Department of Veterans' Affairs - estimated that his department has spent hundreds of millions of dollars over the last several years on foreign drugs.

"So in spite of the supposed "safety concerns" the FDA says are
presented by these foreign drugs, millions of veterans and
others through the Defense Department have been supplied with
Canadian drugs for years."

Remember the Boston Tea Party? "Keep your eyes open for a harbor full of
Lipitor, Vioxx and Viagra."
