But, somehow, I've got a feeling that we haven't seen anything yet. Why? Because Bush upped the ante for more terrorism by waging The Fake War. Yes, if any name should be ascribed to the invasion of Iraq it should be: THE FAKE WAR! Because of this fake war terrorists who might never have been will become so. Never, in the aftermath of 9/11, was the question posed by any of America's leaders: "Why?" And the most powerful weapon available to us was never used, was never thought of even: Education. First, to educate ourselves on why it happened; second, to take this knowledge gained and visit other societies in a US-sponsorship of conferences and learning workshops dealing with matters like racism, religious tolerance and economic opportunity or the lack thereof. Indeed, the standard pre-9/11 was the Bush Administration's threats to boycott the August 2001 international conference against racism. And today we're deep in war and thus don't pay any attention to issues like those. Every one of us should agree that an incident like 9/11 would not have happened had there not become some kind of a societal imbalance. Has ever there been a society in history which built itself into high prominence and power that didn't eventually see attempts to take it down due to an imbalance in governance? Education, a willingness for self-criticism and a desire to prosecute the perpetrators of 9/11 was and is today the only viable and meaningful response to 9/11. And we must consider that educating and self-criticizing tactics do not present the overnight victory illusions our illegtimately-elected president so desperately wanted in 9/11's aftermath. After all, war was good cover for how Bush got elected and also was great cover for the bad economy. Educating ourselves and others is a long and drawn process, but it is a much needed and committed process upon which we should be embarking. I would hope that this will become one of the conclusions reached by the 9/11 investigating commission.
