I found a patent and an application that might be relevant. The application deals with identifying low abundance proteins with mass spectrometry, has little new, and to my untrained eye looks shaky, given how recent it is. The patent, which deals with a general algorithm is beyond my ken to evaluate. patft.uspto.gov appft1.uspto.gov We're just going to have to await further announcements, I guess, but at the moment it looks like hype.
