I haven't set foot in one for years. Last time I went the place was overrun with urchins. I suppose it is a good thing that kids learn the tactile and esthetic value of a book.... Given the paucity of stay at home parents, in small communities especially it also may be the only place where students can go after school to study where there are adult supervision, resources and somebody willing to help them find the right resources, and an overall atmosphere of studiousness where reading and thinking are respected.
