Hi Rob,

Good to see your post. You got out of romance and into it professionally a few years back, often with good results.

The company's not a monster because the market never arrived. IDNX is, proportionally, stronger than ever vis-a-vis the competition. With the tech wreck in 2000, which happened days after the stock started to take off, and the collapse both of the speculative frenzy and, with it, the chances of major money in the internet sector, the private side possibilities evaporated. This took a great deal of potential out of the industry and this stock. Then September 11 took the rest of the commercial market prospects away, and left us waiting for the past couple of years for the government to gear up.

Then we merged with Visionics on unfavorable terms (we are carrying 20M too many shares now), although IDNX did a good job of raising funds through a stock offering. The government market is inevitable, but the commercial side is just content to wait -- for a few years, it seems -- while all the bugs are worked out, and large scale achieved, on the government side. And then we may still only see smart cards, rather than biometric smart cards.

I see IDNX today as a surer thing than a few years ago, but with a much duller payoff. At least for the next two or three years.
