Kerry is in the running if he finishes strong in Iowa and New Hampshire. Those races are still fluid.

While Dean will probably win New Hampshire, expectations are high for him there. If Kerry does well in Iowa it will carry over. If Dean does surprisingly weak in Iowa that will also carry over. Polls can often be illusory. Not a single vote has been cast yet.

If Kerry fares poorly in those two states he is probably out. But you can say that about everyone but Clark who is a southerner.
