I do not think the threat could ever be "eliminated"- after all terrorists come in many forms, and we even have domestically grown ones- but we could certainly minimize the thread if we were intelligent, and actually went after terrorists.

In general I agree with you, I just want to put in that little caveat- hope you don't mind.

If my math is right, the odds of an American dying in a terrorist attack in the last three years were about 1 in 280,000. The odds of getting nailed by a drunk driver were roughly 17 times higher:

But dying in a "normal" tragic accident makes you a statistic, not a reason for rabid responses. If we add in handgun deaths, I'm sure the disparity in the odds goes thru the roof.

EDIT - firearm murders run about 10,000 per year. So your odds of dying badly due to drunks and Rambos are now 27 times your terrorism risk.

This and the similar followup posts demonstrate to all who read them that liberals do not consider terrorism a serious threat to the nation and don't really support fighting it. Thanks to you and the others for making that clear. This is something worth knowing in an election year.

See my previous post. You know what they say about statistics. Your post is quite frankly and I hesitate to say this on a Moderate Forum -- absurd.

As for the jingoism of "it's been 823 days", aren't you doing the same thing that you accuse Bush of by going on TV and saying these aphorisms?

BTW - I notice you left Saddam out of your last sentence.
