Sorry, I hadn't seen your most recent post when I made my last one. I'm a little busy with the market this A.M.

I could counter that unfettered regressive capitalism (Corporatism) produces benefits only for a tiny oligarchy, and the bulk of the populace is left in squalor"

You could counter with that, but you'd be wrong. In the U.S. we have a massive affluent middle class that has prospered very nicely in a capitalist system...so thank you very much.

Only if you ignore the history of the 20th century. By the end of the 19th century, the problems of Corporatism were not only flagrantly apparent, but starting to be addressed. Had not those adjustments to the system been made, there is no reason to believe that the rise of the American middle class would or could have occurred. Surely, one can veer too far into stultifying Socialism, but to ignore the possibility that an error can be made in the opposite direction, invites catastrophe. Just as Socialism (Communism lite) produces problems, so does Corporatism (Fascism lite). An equilibrium balance point is always a difficult goal. Even more challenging is devising the feedback mechanisms to make that balance point, a stable equilibrium point. Ideologues on either side of the balance point are fond of shouting at each other, but it's a lot of "sound and fury" that not only "signifys nothing", but precludes positive growth towards a more intelligent solution.

All, JMO
