SM-R arriving in China
China's Ministry of Railways and Huawei Technologies have signed a framework agreement on the GSM-R project cooperation of Datong-Qinhuangdao line (Da-Qin line) in Beijing. As a milestone in the revolution of China's railway system, Da-Qin line is poised to be the pilot coaler for modern and heavy-duty transport. The rebuilt Da-Qin line will be the first to roll out modernized trains and communication system, targeting an annual coal transport capability of 200 million tons in the coming years.

Huawei is committed to construct the GSM-R system from Datong to Qinhuangdao. The GSM-R system aims to offer comprehensive and reliable communication services to the eastward coaler from Shan Xi, on the main railway track covering over 600 kilometers.

On the signing ceremony, Hu Yadong, vice minister of the Ministry of Railways, introduced the informatization progress of the railway system in China. "The modern communication technologies and transport gears are the basis for the informatization of railway and the revolution of railway industry in China", said Hu Yadong. "The cooperation between the Ministry of Railways and Huawei Technologies will definitely propel the development of GSM-R technologies and accelerate the evolution of railway technologies."

"We endeavor to build the very best GSM-R system for the railways in China with our unified global resources and proven GSM platform. Datong-Qinhuangdao will be the pilot application of the GSM-R", said Ren Zhengfei, president of Huawei Technologies.
