U.S. Rejects Chinese Draft for 6-Party Talks
by Kang In-sun (insun@chosun.com)

The United States gave up trying to hold six-nation talks on the North Korea nuclear crisis for this year, after Vice President Dick Cheney rejected the proposed draft submitted by China of a joint statement of the talks, the Washington Post reported Friday. The report said that Cheney insisted the draft include phrases calling for the "irreversible" dismantling of North Korea's programs and mentioning "verification," two key issues for the Bush administration.
