Euro pops higher vs dollar on NYC terror threat
Euro pops higher vs dollar on NYC terror threat

NEW YORK, Dec 19 (Reuters) - The euro firmed against the
dollar on Friday in otherwise sleepy trade on a report that New
York City was the target of planned attack, possibly by a
female suicide bomber.
A report from ABC News, published on its Web site, said
U.S. intelligence sources received information about a
"credible and imminent threat to New York City."
The euro rose from around $1.2355 <EUR=> to $1.2390, still
below its record high, on the report, traders said.
"Yeah, there is this report from ABC about a possible
female suicide bomber in New York. That's what drove this thing
up," said one senior trader at a major New York money center
bank.
"The information was received through communication
intercepts, and no specific target has been identified," the
report said.
