Ron Brown supposedly received 700 K from the Vietnamese prior to being Secretary of Commerce - supposedly - in exchange for lifting the trade embargo. Do you realize how silly that would be? Let's say Brown was a powerful lobbyist before he took office. Then maybe he might have had a client who wanted the Vietnamese trade sanctions lifted so Brown is paid to lobby. Maybe that's possible. But to suppose 700 K cash under the table was given him to change US policy is ridiculous. For one thing, Brown didn't have nearly the personal power needed to change such a thing. The whole story falls apart right there.

BTW: lifting the trade sanctions was a win-win deal passed with bipartisan support.

If you want real corruption let's talk about the present tense. Ed Gillespie the head of the RNC and former Enron top lobbyist received 650 K from Enron plus 6 million in TV ad money to run a campaign to blame the phony energy crisis on Democrats, when in fact his own client was the mastermind crook ripping off consumers. Instead of prison, Gillespie gets a promotion to head of the GOP.
