PCOP Has been up 2 days on a roll, but at its intraday H of 14.50 its % gain was only 13.28% and could not classify for inclusion on the "Biotech Fireworks".<g>The volume today was more than 3x its daily average.

The company announced yesterday that it plans to spin off its drug-discovery unit from its software business, and it will that way create two independent companies.

The transaction is expected to occur by the end of March and after it PCOP will continue to operate its scientific software business, and plans to change its name to Accelrys Inc.

According to analyst P. Nadeau at SG Cowen,Accelrys software seems to have the best prospects of the two present businesses.

In the last 2Qs the company has been cutting its losses in spite of lower revenues and for the current 4th Q (Dec.)it is expected to report around $0.30/share in the black column.<g> For next fiscal year the earnings are expected to be on the black. (Around $0.05) That of course was before taking into account the planned spin off, which is expected to be tax free for shareholders.(PCOP's PE in the past has been as high as 325 <g>)

Today the stock was able to close above its December 3 H of 13.87

The next resistance is the October 15 H at 14.97. It needs to close above that before it cant test its October 8 H at 15.60 and its September 22 H at 16.11

On doing that, it seems the company still has room to run since its March 2000 H was 104 <g>
