Ask gold tooter about counterfeit rands. I suspect that the noise about that a few years ago, was CIA, and not so much counterfeiters proper, but we will never know for sure.

Oil, theoretically is a much surer bet. But leverage in the successful companies is not as good, and although the hit rate over the industry is an astonishing one in three, it seems there are scads of plays that drill one hole to newfields of note, and come up with dust..

I admit I don't know the difference between of a 64th choke versus a porosity figure and log info is greek to me. I have the barest notion of API and what is means, and could not tell you if 30 feet of hydrocarbons is good or bad.. I do know that Gas is a fair bet, but BPOE figures are all confusion to me.. for that reason I don't bet on oil plays. I though Devon and CVI.A were interesting recently but the market did not agree that much.. apparently not the next Bow Valley.

I did see some hydrocarbons on a sandstone in my travels many years ago. It was about 75 feet of black core that dripped slightly. I have no idea of the weight of the oil or its composition, wax, sulfur etc.. It is not known to the oil crowd as it was drilled for other purposes and for certain reasons that are believeable was never reported. It occurs in a non formational strata and may be very extensive due to blinding due to thrust faults and overlays that are regional. I am sure the ground is not available for many miles but its simulacrum may be around in other similar areas as it is a basic regional geology feature, not a local flexure or dome.

I would not want to bid on the ground, as you would get skunked. Knowledge is not always power. Money is power.

Peter,

how do you like the bet on IMA now that results are out? Does IMA have a chance to prove up or is it to early to tell in your opinion.
