Herb have you ever considered the possibility that Steve Jobs might get tired of being CEO of Apple and quit?
How do you think the market might react toward Apple's stock?
That is what worries me the most about being a shareholder.

Time to upgrade Steve's airplane to a 757. It'll be a little tough on the profits though.

<<have you ever considered the possibility that Steve Jobs might get tired of being CEO of Apple and quit?>>

Jobs seems to be having too much fun. As head of pixar, he doesn't get to be the salesman that he is for apple. If I see him giving up anything, it would be the head position at pixar.

<<How do you think the market might react toward Apple's stock? >>

No question in my mind that the market would react negatively to this news. My guess, though, unless he gives up the show unexpectedly, is that he will have his own successor groomed and hopefully, it will be someone acceptable to wall street and the technical side of apple.

... the possibility that Steve Jobs might get tired of being CEO of Apple and quit?

Nooo... not lately.

1> CEO's don't quit. Employees quit. That is one reason why CEO's are exempt from hourly wages and receive substantial compensation. If they were to just up and quit, they would get sued into poverty.
2> Even if Steve Jobs wasn't a CEO, quitting has never been one of his attributes. Being a founder of the company is one of his attributes. Passion is one of his attributes. He was even fired from his previous position at Apple because of it.
3> Founders sometimes sell out to other companies, but they are generally not given to quitting and walking away from successful enterprises.
4> The End Game for Industrial Giants involves dynasty building. Therefore, quitting out of mere boredom is not an option.
5> Boredom is not an attribute of working for Apple. The company is always on the vanguard of technological development and the people who work there are keen to appreciate that position.
6> Even ordinary people, who are passionate about their life's work, do not simply quit. They especially do not quit if they are the best at what they do.

Personally, I would be more concerned with Bill Gates getting bored and quitting his job than I would Steve Jobs. Of course, I would never pose such a ridiculous question about Mr. Gates. It's just too silly.
