Newt Gingrich 100% opposed Clinton's economic policies. He and Dick Armey swore Clinton would drive us into a depression. Boy were they wrong. Gingrich closed down the government rather than give in to Clinton. CLinton held firm and finally got his way. Result, about 6 years of great healthy boom-boom balanced economy and no added debt.

No way in hell you can give Gingrich credit for something he opposed bitterly.
