Considering all, it is amazing how well the US economy is doing. The big bubble, the Y2K paranoia, and the 911 attack.

The Great Depression would have been a severe, yet long-forgotten, recession if not for two policy failures:

1) 25% of the nation's banks were allowed to fail, while the rest operated inefficiently, fearing "runs". The deficit was eliminated (A Democrat principle, in which they really DO NOT BELIEVE, today.)

2) Any possibility of free trade was stifled by the stone-headed economic nationalism of union-driven protectionism.

The result of bleak economic ignorance-including socialist hatred of "the rich"-was sustained 20% unemployment, social upheaval, cultural collapse, and world war.

It's quite a dream that the Democrats-both the Clintonian "moderates" and the Dean Marxian whackos-are pedaling to a public-that has been mind-numbed by union teachers and bitter, anti-American college professors-today.
