And yet even Zinn didn't get it all. He missed a very important event in the early years of the Franklin Roosevelt Administration when the J.P. Morgan Bank, along with Jacob Raskob, a disgruntled Al Smith and a number of other Wall Street heavies attempted to hire Lt. Gen. Smedley Butler to perpetrate a coup d'etat. It was one of the best kept secrets of American history, until recently.

Here's an excellent quote from Butler, who was very active in the America First movement in the 1930s:
