An economics professor from Auburn spoke at an economic symposium I attended last year, he told of a friend from India applying for many years to get a visa and had failed. He asked his friend why he wanted to live in the US, and his friend replied, "I want to live in a country where the poor people are fat." Interesting comment...

>>> The United States of America has the richest poor people in the world.<<<

Let's change this a bit. The United States of America has the most diverse population of any nation in the world.

Given this fact, don't you think our nation should lead better than does?

Or maybe the diversity at our bottom rungs isn't really enough to influence our nation's policy. Have you ever heard of anyone wanting to come to America only for freedom of speech?

Mostly, they come for the money. And this money can be gotten by either above-ground means, or from America's underground economy. Indeed, it is worth an attempt to get here if the possibility to send money home to loved ones exists. This is understandable.

Finally, I wouldn't say the richest poor folk live here 'cause many of 'em wind up in our jails. Remember, America as a nation imprisons more people per capita than any other. How 'bout all of those who get here only to wind up in jail? How inviting is that?
