The middle would be a complete lie for the GOP in 2004.
They have already positioned themselves to the far right playing to the dittoheads. If they try to appear moderate they'll be dishonest. The only moderate Republicans have ben repeatedly stabbed in the back by Bush-Cheney and Delay. The moderates seem to be the only ones not in the pockets of corporate special interests (and vice versa).
