The greatest values of owning and operating your own aircraft are:
1) You and your bags always get to the same place at the same time, on your schedule.
2) Getting out of Dodge for a "..$50 hamburger.." doesn't involve hours of staring at someone else's taillights.
3) If you work it into you business activities, it's a terrific tax shelter.
4) Aircraft (..purchased with a few years but low hours on them..) don't depreciate, if you take good care of them.
5) Above 5000' AGL the skies are still basically empty if you avoid major airline hubs, and with Loran and GPS you go as the crow flies saving tons of time.
