Perle is a traitor who should have been placed in front of a firing squad a very long time ago. The world is a poorer place as the result of his continued existence.

I am in total agreement. Perle is a swine. Casting stones at him would be his appropriate fate.

The cold war was an arms race where the sole purpose was nations gutting their respective populations to build weapons that had no useful purpose whatsoever. The excuse was to fight communism, which was never a threat in the first place, in order to con suckers into turning their pay checks over to war profiteers such as Perle.

That's true. The "communist threat" was totally overblown during the "cold war". The Soviets had no intention of invading the U.S. They could hardly handle a small country like Afganastan, as if they had the means or desire to invade the U.S. Communism was the boogeyman used to build the military industrial complex for decades and in the process making many American elites extremely wealthy and in better control of American society.

The greater American population has paid the price for this "cold warmongering" against the "communist threat". Our infrastructure is in much worse shape than it would be if we actually reinvested our tax dollars to rebuild our country. Our people are in much worse shape too. Think of how much better educated the American people would be if we had invested all that cold war militarism money into building a first-class education system? Also, a lot of mental and social problems that come with those who spent time in a war zone could have been prevented if America wasn't so damn militaristic. Militarism since the end of WW2 on the whole has had a very NEGATIVE effect on our society.

Seems like what I said just might be the stinkin truth

Iraqis show their contempt for Saddam Hussein

Saddam was held by Kurdish
forces, drugged and left for US
troops

LONDON, : Saddam Hussein was captured by US troops only after he had been taken
prisoner by Kurdish forces, drugged and abandoned ready for American soldiers to
recover him, a British Sunday newspaper said.

Saddam came into the hands of the Kurdish Patriotic Front after being betrayed to the
group by a member of the al-Jabour tribe, whose daughter had been raped by Saddam's
son Uday, leading to a blood feud, reported the Sunday Express, which quoted an
unnamed senior British military intelligence officer.

The newspaper said the full
story of events leading up to the
ousted Iraqi president's capture
on December 13 near his
hometown of Tikrit in northern
Iraq, "exposes the version
peddled by American spin
doctors as incomplete".

A former Iraqi intelligence
officer, whom the Express did
not name, told the paper that
Saddam was held prisoner by a
leader of the Kurdish Patriotic
Front, which fought alongside
US forces during the Iraq war,
until he negotiated a deal.

The deal apparently involved the group gaining political advantage in the region.

An unnamed Western intelligence source in the Middle East told the Express: "Saddam
was not captured as a result of any American or British intelligence. We knew that
someone would eventually take their revenge, it was just a matter of time."
