My reply sounded just the same:

Dear Mr. Okrent

"The organizers of the demonstration failed to alert the Times in advance" is a somewhat lame excuse, as the Times did have someone there to take the pictures, and, as I am informed by bloggers, reporters from many different outlets did attend the demonstrations. Did the wires carry nothing on it? The more pertinent question is, why did this demonstration not make it through the Times' "newsworthy" filter, when much smaller anti-American demonstrations routinely do?

Yours,
Nadine Carroll

I wonder if the Pro Saddam supporter march was *advertised* before-hand and whether the N.Y. Times covered it?
