Thanks for the reply (and to Dennis!).

I am running WIN 2000. After 4 hours of slow download for the service pack - Windows aborted the exercise.

During the 4 hour non-event Norton caught 2 viruses (W32.HLLW. GOABOT.AO and W32.Blaster.WORM).

Any other thoughts? (Should I try the SP2 patch first?)

If I shut down or reboot the system is OK. Its just after a few minutes online that the svchost crashes.
