Revisionist history, GOP trying to claim credit for the Clinton boom years. It's really a cynical "nice try" since they opposed almost 100% of CLinton's economic policies. If Clnton is now being called a big spender, first of all look at GW, a much bigger spender, secondly whatever clinton spend on sure worked. Gingrich deserves NO credit since he was the one who shut down the government rather than go along with Clinton's tax hikes which balanced the budget.

You can quibble about whether it was technically balanced but Clinton is the only president lately to have actually paid down debt. Bush brings us 1.5 trillion in additional debt, only part of which he can blame on war. And was the war really necessary? And didn't he lie about the reasons for going to war? Cato Institute is pai for by right-wing conservative private interests including Koch Industries, a secret private oil firm known for shadiness.
