This is one example where UN sanctions actually worked, but coincidentially this knowledge came after the fall of Iraq.

I keep saying we are bouncing off trees while trying to determine what is happening to the Forest. We will only know when we look back in a few years what is really working.

So far I would say things are going very well. People forget that wars are always messy, and we are still at the start of this one.

UN sanctions were imposed over the Lockerbie bombing. They were suspended in 1999 and completely lifted this September. I don't see how they had anything to do with Libya's WMD's.

The U.N. Security Council imposed an air and arms embargo and a ban on some oil equipment on Libya in 1992 and 1993 to pressure Tripoli to hand over two Libyan suspects for trial.
Sanctions were suspended when Libya turned them over in April 1999.....
